Christmas: The Most Heartwarming Celebration Of Capitalism

Happy Hannuka, Yule, Festival, Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwansa and New Year’s Eve.

What’s more festive than preventable death? That’s right! Entirely nothing. 2.07 million cases and 67,616 deaths in the UK so far, according to JHU CSSE COVID-19 Data, thanks to incompetence and inaction followed by incompetence and lacklustre plans to curb the growing toll on the population.

Are you in the holiday spirit? Should you be?

Yes, if holiday spirit means to you what it does to me. Spending the festivities cold, drunk and depressed hoping for something that will never happen. Retribution. For all those who have passed away due to the negligence of our elected leaders. For all those who will pass away due to their continued determination to lead us down the path of self-destruction. All this death and suffering to save a failing economy, a structure that doesn’t even exist when you think about it.

It doesn’t exist, it has never existed, our entire monetary worth as people comes from the mutual agreement that money holds some kind of value and that it can determine and represent the value of what we are able to accomplish.

Our economy is a religion. It’s a load of bollocks and it smells like shit.

Is it truly worth more than human life? Is it worth it to affect an additional few thousand people with this plague just so that the international businesses that do not pay us taxes can make some more money? Our government will tell us ‘no’, but their actions speak much louder. Humans are simply another expendable resource, all 7 billion of us.

Capitalism is a juice press, and we are the oranges.

Chained by a system designed to undermine freedom. Shackles made of pounds and shekels. The land must burn before our kingdom come. Disembowel the billionaire jackals, before all our ambitions become undone.

Somewhere along the way, we are all subjugated to numbers. A number is all we are. A statistic, an amount in a bank account and a file in a system. We aren’t humans any more. The notion of humanity is pointless in a world where the value of one’s life cannot be assessed. Only we know the value of our lives, yet we are unable to empathise. What am I worth? Do you know? What’s the value of my struggle?

I have too many sorrows to drink away, but that doesn’t stop me from trying anyway. I have been drinking up to this day, and I will only stop when I finally drink my life away. Merry Consumerfest, thanks for the socks.

This plague is nothing but ineffective and indiscriminate genocide. Nature’s population control. Tragic, but perhaps necessary. It stirs me to see so much suffering, and I hope you’ll remember that this Christmas is not worth the life of those you love. Do not allow your government to lull you into a false sense of safety so that you’ll once again commit to this mindless commercialism. They do not serve you, only the companies that sponsor them. The corporations want your money and the government won’t mind if you help the poor die in that process, because all the poor are to them is a liability.

This year is not a year to celebrate. The new year brings only uncertainty.

When the holiday feast lies in the toilet, when the hangovers are treated and when the empty fireworks litter the streets, this pandemic will still be a part of our reality. This holiday has seen no snow because we continue to warm our planet and we’re not going to stop until it loses the ability to host us. The rich will still thrive, the poor will still be dying and the injustice will still go unchallenged. The NHS is still going to be stretched to its limits and the Tories still won’t give it that £350 million it promised. We’ll see what kind of year 2021 will be if these gunboats start making some noise after Brexit.

Chances are if the Tories sour the relationship with the EU any further and take their toxicity all the way to NATO we will get that Bremain we desired after all. Remember that 50% of us wanted to stay in the EU, that’s quite the resistance army. All you need to do is refuse to be drafted. They do not have enough prisons for half the population. Should the Tories follow in Blair’s warmongering footsteps, it will be a very short-lived war indeed.

I’m unsure what else there is to say. If I say too much I risk saying nothing at all. What’s the lesson I want you to take away from this? Don’t celebrate the holidays? I don’t know about that. I think if it brings you some momentary happiness then go for it. Just wear your mask if you are able to do so. What I want everyone to know is that the holiday season isn’t the beginning or the end. There is life after this holiday and it’s important you act in a way that ensures that it’s still there when the holidays are over. Whatever that means is up to you.

On a final note; I’ve set up a Patreon if you wish to support my work here as a guest blogger on the blog of the honourable Rachael Swindon. I’ve also set up my own blog, even though it’s still rather cold there. I’ll be reviewing politics, games and life itself. If you’re uncertain, allow me to sell myself to you; You’ll find that I’m agnostic, and disapprove of scripture and religious dogma. You’ll find that I’m a socialist, an optimistic melancholist, a nihilist grounded by cynicism and an antinatalist.

Life only has the meaning you ascribe to it, and only you can assert what that value is. Similarly, only you can assert what the value of your money is.

As such, I urge you to keep your funds to yourself if you find it has greater value being purposed elsewhere. I can only accept that which is disposable and meaningless, the way I’ve accepted life itself. I cannot in good conscience accept that which is still desired.

I’m @Wolendov on Twitter - if you’d like to get in touch and my blogspot is wolendov.blogspot.com. I’ll start working on it some time soon.
