No Laughing Matter: A Chancellor For The Millionaires Is A Disaster For The People

Image
This isn’t a government, it is a smash and grab raid. A rotation of the elite. One blundering vessel of inadequacy has been replaced by a languid barrel of soulless idiocy in the blink of an eye. It was said as a matter of fact that a government led by Jeremy Corbyn would cause an unprecedented run on the Pound, yet here we are, nearly three years after the general election, and the Pound has hit a 37-year low, under an economically illiterate Conservative government. Some 1.5 million households in Britain still don’t have an internet connection, nearly 30 years after it was widely available to the public.  I magine trying to keep up with the DWP’s demands without being able to access the internet.  Again, it was a matter of fact that Jeremy Corbyn would’ve seized the means of connection and nationalised broadband so every single household could access the internet - something that most of us take for granted in the year 2022.  We could go on all day and night with these, of course, bu

Not My King: A Broken Institutional Relic From A Less Civilised Time

By the time you read this I could well be locked up in the Tower of London, for I, Rachael of Swindon, have been watching Netflix instead of the compulsory mourning over on the BBC, which now resembles the set of ‘It’s a Knockout’, set in Medieval times. Oddly enough, they had the Royal family on that programme once upon a time.  It featured Prince Edward, Princess Anne, Sarah Ferguson, and Prince Nonce as non-participating team captains, with stars including John Travolta, Cliff Richard, Meat Loaf and Rodney from Only Fools and Horses, prancing around in fancy dress.  It was an embarrassing, awkward disaster, of course, only made worse when you realise it was presented by another predator, Stuart Hall, a man that pleaded guilty in court to 14 charges of indecent assault involving 13 girls aged between 9 and 17 years old.  But I digress. Sort of.  Charles is not my king, and this is not my Royal Family. Allow me to tell you why. The British Crown legally owns 6.6 billion acres of la

Former Shell Economist Truss Gifts Energy Firms With Billions While Your Energy Bill Doubles

Image
So let’s get this right. The government are giving untold billions of your pounds to bloody huge energy firms, legislating to DOUBLE the price you paid for your energy bills last winter, for the next 2 years, then make you pay back YOUR money to the government, and they want you to be fucking grateful?  They are calling this the “biggest state intervention since WWII”, but who is the intervention actually for?   The government has realised just how many people won’t be able to pay their utility bills this winter, and Liz Truss’s very first act as Prime Minister was to make sure the huge energy firms - set to make £170 billion in unexpected profits over the next 2 years - still get their money.  Sure, there will be an element of contract renegotiation, but a vast majority of the bill, likely to run into hundreds of billions, will be put on the government books and essentially removed from the public purse. Liz Truss and her band of right-wing headbangers, backed up by The Mail, will tel
