Starmer: Bought And Paid For By The Rich And Powerful

When the politics of New Labour died it left behind a legacy of inequality, insecurity, slogans and spin over substance and solutions, growing privatisation, failed military interventions, and a social security system that stigmatised single mothers, disabled people and the poor and vulnerable as ‘scroungers’.

Skip to the present day and the neoliberal capture of the Labour Party has given a whole new lease of life to the New Labour relics and their failed dogmas.

I’ve always thought Blair would look so much better standing in the dock of The Hague rather than sitting next to Keir Starmer doing a selective Q&A session with a hand-picked audience of Labour staffers and client ‘journalists’ looking for their next ‘look how tough Starmer is’ headline.

It must be said, Keir Starmer is as tough as a dampened sheet of Asda Smart Price loo roll. The only noticeable difference is the fact the low-cost loo roll actually serves some sort of purpose to the poor whereas Starmer is only interested in what freebies he can accumulate.

Regular readers will know the junket king Starmer has pocketed around £30,000 worth in the last two years, including tickets to sold out Coldplay concerts and Premier League football matches that the average family can only ever dream of.

This year’s Labour Party conference will run from Sunday 8th to Wednesday 11th October, in Liverpool.

Have you seen the accompanying brochure with Keir Starmer’s face plastered across the front? To think they had to cheek to call us a cult!

The Labour Party conference brochure not only underlines Starmer’s unashamed narcissism, but it also confirms he is something of a twat.

I see very little point in a Labour Party conference when the leader refuses to accept decisions of the party conference on important issues like proportional representation.

Coincidentally, I see very little point in the Labour Party.

The good people of Liverpool may well wonder why a columnist for the S*n such as Starmer has the brass neck to turn up in their city along with the rest of his News Corp paywall whores and expect anything other than to be told to fuck off back to Westminster.

Keir Starmer may well fool middle England with his talk of deficit cutting and growth, and he may well fool a number of voters in red wall seats that loaned their votes to Boris Johnson to ‘get Brexit done’ with his nonsense ‘make Brexit work’ gimmick, but he will not fool Liverpool.

It is positively encouraging to see the activism on the ground from good socialists that the Labour Party stitched-up, smeared, and abandoned.

Many are running as independent candidates in local elections and achieving some incredibly impressive results, but none of this would’ve been necessary if Keir Starmer and the Westminster machine hadn’t imposed a regime of socialist cleansing on an unwilling Liverpool Labour.

Sure, Labour still has huge support across Merseyside, but that support is like a leaking pipe, and when you fail to fix the leak - or intentionally sabotage the pipe - you are going to cause irreparable damage that will end up costing you and arm and a leg, and with the cost of living being what it is, most likely a kidney too.

Starmer used his regular advert in the S*n this week to claim anyone that disagrees with Labour’s immigration plans must be somehow “un-British”.

Starmer said:

"With a Labour government, those who make British lives a misery will face British force - and British justice."

(I even typed that out imagining his annoying monotone voice saying every single word.)

Let me refer Keir Starmer back to the City of Liverpool if he wants to talk about making British lives a misery, or facing the force of the British establishment - and I honestly couldn’t think of a better city to speak with if you want to have a lively discussion about British ‘justice’.

The Labour Party conference of 2023 won’t be a place to go and wave your free Palestine flags, but if you want to meet up with weapons manufacturers, major banks, private healthcare providers, fossil fuel companies, or maybe even a contentious CIA-funded spy-tech firm, you’ll feel right at home.

Labour have absolutely no shame in demonstrating how they are bought and paid for by the same morally dubious interests that have been working the strings on the Tory party for the past 13 years.

If Keir Starmer can sell out to corporate interests and the billionaire media to this extreme degree while in opposition I shudder to think what he will do in power.

And to those who still laughably insist Keir Starmer will reveal his true radical colours when he gains power, I ask you a couple of very simple questions:

Firstly, where is the evidence to support your far-fetched fantasy?

Was it the abandonment of the House of Lords reform, the continuation of cruel Tory welfare policy, or the swiftly deleted tweets demanding a second Brexit referendum that convinced you that Keir Starmer is a misunderstood shy radical?

And secondly, tell me at what point in our history has an opposition leader won a general election and became more radical in power?

In your own good time…

If you plan to vote for smug Starmer’s feeble and unimaginative opposition don’t be too surprised when they turn out to be just as feeble and unimaginative in power.

Until next time,

Rachael
