No Credibility And No Authority - Truss Has Got To Go

The Conservative government - Liz Truss’s shambles of an apocalyptic shitshow masquerading as a government - is in complete and utter disarray.

Don’t you just love to see it?

The only people that detest the Tories more than us would seem to be the Tories themselves going by the fact the very cornerstones of government are collapsing around Truss’s ears as the blue-on-blue civil war rages on.

I have waited years for this. I expect you have too. Sure, we can go back to way before 2010, neoliberalism didn’t start with the pig fancier and the coke sniffer with a thing for sex workers.

David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Jim Davidson, Liz Cundy, Ken Barlow, and Margaret Thatcher, your boys, and girls, are taking one hell of a beating, and I hope it never stops.

You see, they were still pretending the catastrophic fallout from Kwarteng’s disastrous bankers mini-budget didn’t have anything to with Kwarteng’s disastrous bankers mini-budget - which was fully agreed by Liz Truss.

Think of it this way, gents. Some random rich person walks up to you in the street and kicks you where it hurts the most. The nasty nut-crusher - laughing at you while you try to recover a testicle from your throat - tells you it wasn’t the fault of their foot, despite the impression of a size 10 Dr Martens boot remaining in your groin.

Then the gaslighting dangers will explain to you how putting your energy bills up by at least £500 is the greatest state intervention since the creation of the NHS, and the quite unbelievable clusterfuckery of the British government is down to “Putin’s war in Ukraine”.

Surely even the most imbecilic of Tory voters must wonder how their government - not ours - has managed to turn an 80-seat-majority into a likely blue wipeout at the next general election?

Truss’s own MPs are certainly wondering, because it’s their first class seats on the privately-owned gravy train that look set to fall underneath a wave of public anger that we haven’t seen for quite some time.

There’s even talk of 40 Tory MPs going against Truss in a vote of no confidence to force a general election, such is their desperation to bring this damaging episode to a dramatic conclusion.

The Tories know they will get hammered, be in no doubt, but they also know the economy has taken an unprecedented battering on their watch, and the sooner Labour come to power the greater the economic mess Starmer will be left to deal with.

Imagine, a mainstream political party throwing an election in the belief the ideologically-opposed alternative would be a better short-term option than their own leader.

Thank fuck the Labour Party hasn’t ever done anything like that, lumbering us with a hateful hard-right government until they can find a principle-free centrist fraud to maintain the status quo to the benefit of their friends and donors, right?

I don’t think I’ve ever known any Prime Minister to face the prospect of a messy divorce before the honeymoon period has even got underway, but credit to Truss, her party can’t stand her, the electorate think she is untrustworthy and incompetent, and her rancid party is on the brink of annihilation, all within the space of 5 weeks!

You seriously couldn’t make this shit up.

I’m not convinced Liz Truss will last much longer. I believe the Tories have agreed she has got to go, but what they fear is putting the decision of electing a new leader to the Conservative party members, instead choosing to use the votes of MPs to select a new leader unopposed.

Truss might not actually mind the nuclear option of a general election. Of course, it means an end to her short time as Prime Minister, but you can be in absolutely no doubt whatsoever that a seat in the House of Lords awaits.

Just look where we are now. Truss surrounds herself with some of the most deplorable right-wing narcissists and bullies that the Tory party has to offer.

Just not you, Nadine.

Two of the greatest offices of state are held by two of the most loathsome and over-promoted fruitcakes in James Cleverly and Suella Braverman, and what about Therese Coffey heading up the Department of Health and Social Care?

Coffey isn’t the first person to give a friend a few penicillin from their own supplies, but how many of us hold the position of the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care?

The over-promoted Coffey would be out of her depth in a birdbath, and just like her dear friend Liz, her position is utterly untenable.

What a sorry fucking mess we find ourselves in, and it’s not even like they can’t even pin it on Jeremy Corbyn!

Yet.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been absolutely delighted witnessing one discombobulated Tory after another humiliating themselves on live TV.

Whisper it quietly, but it actually makes the news tolerable for short periods of time.

The ERG Prime Minister is highly unlikely to last beyond a few months - some commentators think it could be a matter of weeks - but one thing that is beyond any shadow of a doubt is the likelihood of these shambolic maniacs continuing to line the pockets of the hedge funds, the bankers, the big polluters, and anyone stupid enough to keep throwing their money at a dying Conservative Party.

That’s the thing. This Conservative party really does need the plug pulling on its political life support machine.

The chaos with Miliband thing, the “get Brexit done” lie, and the Corbyn the bogieman bullshit was always going to have a shelf life.

Take a look at your NHS. 7 million people on a waiting list, talk of over-60’s in England having to pay for prescriptions, 40,000 nurse vacancies, thousands of beds lost, A&E’s downgraded or closed altogether, the Ambulance Service in crisis and facing unprecedented pressures, and the source of this disaster is the chronic underfunding of the NHS by the Conservative party.

It’s not nurses, posties, and train drivers bringing the country to a standstill, it's the Tory government and the wealth hoarders that will happily let you work yourself to death for a pittance to ensure they can afford to send their kids to private school that are are solely to blame.

I cannot see any road to safety for Liz Truss. She sacked her Chancellor in an attempt to save her own skin, despite saying that she and Kwarteng were in “complete lockstep”, just days ago.

Truss, a woman that looks like a “pigeon trying to solve a Rubix Cube”, made sure her ‘friend’ Kwarteng became the second-shortest serving Chancellor in history, and then replaced him with Jeremy Hunt - the fella that is massively responsible for the state we find the NHS in today,

You will find Hunt - excuse the typo - in today’s papers talking about having to make “difficult economic decisions”, which you and I both know means the poor and working classes will be picking up the tab for Kwarteng’s horror show.

The corporation tax hike U-turn that followed the well-briefed sacking of Kwarteng was bad enough, but the arrogance, the tone, and the substance of the short statement delivered by Truss was unbelievably awful.

Truss - the most unpopular Prime Minister in living memory - didn’t show a single drop of remorse for the 3 weeks of turmoil that has been unleashed upon us directly by the bewildering actions of her government.

The Prime Minister demonstrates an alarming absence of basic empathy, she has no authority within her own rotten party, and to say her credibility is shattered would be an insult to your intelligence, because you and I both no Truss had no credibility in the first place.

The scapegoating and sacrificing of her Chancellor may well buy Truss some time, but I believe the Tories will not allow the abysmal communicator to lead them into the next general election because her authority is shot to pieces.

I consider myself lucky to have been alive long enough to see the Tory party go up in flames, as hard as it is to believe, it really is happening.

So keep giving the fire a prod whenever you’re feeling a little bit chilly, which might be way too often for way too many of us over the weeks and months ahead.
