Labour In Turmoil - Starmer’s Callous Indifference To The Suffering And Destruction Of Gaza Is A Disgrace

The word “ceasefire” is a dirty word in the Labour Party it would seem.

How can the Labour Party be so far ahead in the polls and winning by-elections with big majorities when they can barely hold themselves together when it comes to what constitutes a war crime, Muslims, and an urgent ceasefire?

Answer? Because the Tories in government are finished. A busted flush. In possession of a one-way-ticket to the hell that Margaret Thacher privatised soon after her arrival.

We are now at the stage of where we are prioritising holding the opposition to account because they are supposed to be the government-in-waiting, despite their own brutal divisions that are threatening to destroy the toxic Labour Party from within.

I have been following the ups and downs of the Labour leader for the past three and a half years and I can honestly say I haven’t witnessed anything quite like the week that has just past.

We’re at the point where the world is waiting on Keir Starmer to call for an immediate ceasefire.

Why Keir Starmer?

If Starmer and a number of Tory MPs demand a ceasefire, Rishi Sunak will act. When Sunak wags his tail, the rest of the Biden dog will follow suit. When Biden calls for a ceasefire the mass murderer Netanyahu will be forced to act.

See, it’s not that complicated, and this is why we must apply as much pressure to the leader of the opposition as we would to the government.

The unprecedented humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza is a moral stain on the conscience of the West. Britain has collectively closed their eyes to the atrocities being committed under the banner of Israel’s right to defend herself. Shame on Britain.

Agnès Callamard, Amnesty's secretary-general, said in a statement: "In their stated intent to use all means to destroy Hamas, Israeli forces have shown a shocking disregard for civilian lives. They have pulverised street after street of residential buildings killing civilians on a mass scale and destroying essential infrastructure, while new restrictions mean Gaza is fast running out of water, medicine, fuel, and electricity."

Acute hunger is being used as a weapon of war against an innocent civilian population.

In 2018, the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2417, which unanimously condemned the use of starvation against civilians as a method of warfare and declared any denial of humanitarian access a violation of international law.

Keir Starmer had no issue with starvation being used as a weapon of war until someone in his office told him he cannot keep popping up on LBC to give his backing to the prohibition condemned in the resolution.

Once the complicit fool Starmer has called for an immediate ceasefire his next demand should be for a comprehensive arms embargo to Israel - given that serious violations under international law are being committed every day with not a single fuck given by the Israeli regime.

That’s what leadership is supposed to look like, Mr Starmer. It might not go down well in Tel Aviv and Washington, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t the right thing to do.

While the media and the political class are lockstep in their support of anything goes for Israel, a vast majority of the British public are not in agreement and want to see an immediate end to the indiscriminate mass murder of innocent humans.

Even two-thirds of the often gung-ho American public want to see “the U.S. call for a ceasefire and a de-escalation of violence in Gaza. The U.S. should leverage its close diplomatic relationship with Israel to prevent further violence and civilian deaths”.

Keir Starmer is no more than a nodding donkey at the disposal of the brutal and criminal Netanyahu regime. This man is likely to be the next Prime Minister and if that doesn’t send a shiver down your spine you are either blinded by your justified hatred of the Tories or incredibly naive.

It’s all very well coming on my timeline calling me everything from “an enemy of the Jews” and a “Hamas propagandist”, but we all know this is nonsense.

We all want to see the hostages released unharmed and immediately. This should include the numerous Palestinian children being held under bizarre “administrative detention” rules - essentially being held without charge.

160 Palestinian children have been killed every single day since October 7th. Israel is wiping out the equivalent of a primary school every 2 days. Are you really foolish and morally bankrupt enough to call this self-defence?

The UN have seen 30 of their own staff killed, more than 25 journalists have been slaughtered, schools, hospitals and places of worship have been targeted. It was never about accuracy and always about maximum damage.

Sadiq Khan was the latest high-profile politician to call for an immediate ceasefire and while many will accuse him of cynical electioneering his point absolutely stands and the pressure is now on Starmer to change his stance and demand a ceasefire now.

Starmer has spent most of this week attempting to defend his indefensible position to the British Muslim communities rather than focusing on what Labour can do to bring about an immediate end to hostilities.

The term “car crash” is regularly overused, but Keir Starmer - whose own personal approval ratings have plummeted to their lowest since September 2021 - has had a 10 car pile up on the M25 of a week.

The last time I checked Labour has seen 27 councillors resign from the party, including 9 just up the road from me in Oxford, costing Labour an overall majority. Keir Starmer’s actions are already seeing dire consequences.

When do we start condemning the murder of children from the sky?

When do we start condemning the power cuts that have left incubators without power and surgeons performing on children under the torch light of a mobile phone, without any anaesthesia?

When do we start condemning the indiscriminate murder of fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, grandparents, innocent fucking civilians that have no allegiance to Hamas?

When do we start condemning the targeting of a hospital? Israel warned the hospital they planned to bomb it, they bombed it, and then denied it. Independent analysis of the facts from Channel 4 and the New York Times has blown wide open the Israeli spin, pedalled by Netanyahu, Biden, and Sunak.

Honestly, 30 years ago we didn’t have the internet and we had to choose what to believe from a few terrestrial channels, the British press, and Ceefax/Teletext.

But this is 2023 and we can choose our sources of information from hundreds of thousands of outlets that contradict pretty much everything we hear from the real axis of evil. Stop lying to us, you fucking warmongering arseholes.

The time to call for an immediate ceasefire has been and gone. More than 100 Palestinian children have been killed in the time it has taken me to write this. Now think of the thousands of lives that have been destroyed by the unforgivable deaths of these innocent children.

While it might be a case of too-little-too late for Keir Starmer, others might say it is better late than never. Gaza is under an unprecedented siege, the stench of death fills the air.

For the first time in a long time, Keir Starmer, do the bloody right thing and call for a ceasefire. Not a humanitarian pause, but an immediate ceasefire because I am telling you now, those that fail to do so in this moment will be judged by history as the leaders that enabled the genocide of the Palestinian people.

Until next time,

Rachael
