“Don’t Be Nasty”, Says The Nastiest Government In Living Memory

Hello again, it’s only me. You’re not about to watch Brandon Lewis on Marr, are you? I thought not. There’s something about Brandon that makes my insides feel unclean. So let’s get on with it.

Tory MPs are kicking off because people are being nasty to them. That’s right, the nastiest government in living memory are complaining about being called bad names.

These people have more control over you than any government that you’ll probably be able to remember. They have special powers awarded to them, due to the global pandemic, they have a large majority and a mostly compliant, toothless, opposition.

What’s not right is sending threats and personal abuse to anyone, MP or not, and I’m sure 99.9% of you agree. That includes vandalism, and screaming at people in the street. What is right is robustly challenging elected representatives and demanding accountability, because it is you that they are supposed to be serving.

All of this has been sparked off by a comment made by Labour Party Deputy Leader, Angela Rayner. It is alleged she described Tory MP Chris Clarkson as “scum”. As we already know, and as described in the dictionary, the word “scum” simply means a “low, worthless, vile, person or group of people”.

Are you really saying Rayner didn’t have a point?

Are we really to believe her one single act of frustration with this fucking frightful and atrocious government is somehow worse than the racism, homophobia and plain nastiness Boris Johnson has spent several decades peddling, to the detrement of millions of our friends, neighbours, colleagues, our families, to us?

Johnson is an Etonian racist. You’ve read the books, you’ve seen the comments, you’ve felt the impact. It’s no coincidence Islamophobic hate crimes against our brothers and sisters rocketed by a mind boggling 375% following his abhorrent “letterbox and bank robbers” comments.

But you know, “scum” and all that.

We all know what the Tories did this week. And this is why people are angry. Once again, they have demonstrated exactly why they are known as the nasty party.

I saw a meme saying “Thatcher hated miners, Johnson hates minors”, or something along those lines. But how true is it? The Tories abandonment of Britain’s poorest children, during a global pandemic, will go down in the history books for exactly what it is. Nasty, sickening and callous.

Careful though, don’t call them “scum”, whatever you do.

We discovered on Saturday morning that more than 100 Conservative MPs have sent an angry letter to Sir Keir Starmer, complaining about Angela Rayner’s comment.

Can you seriously believe the brass neck of these soulless urchins?

Keith will probably speak with a focus group or two, set up in independent inquiry headed up by Sir Lord Duke Blairite, and it will end up with Ms Rayner being sent to the same place that Starmer was sent to when they performed the socialism exorcism ritual.

The Tory MPs haven’t really done themselves any favours, Ben Bradley being one notable example. Why is this nasty piece of work involved in politics?

But what about the relentlessly evil member for Shipley, Philip Davies?

This takes doubling-down on despicable behaviour to whole new levels. This (below) is his response to a schoolgirl that wrote to him regarding the free school meals scheme.

What can you possibly say about that then? Where do you even begin to start? Can you imagine if that was your child he was responding to? Jeez. Is he still Mr Esther McVey? Does he still receive thousands of pounds worth of freebies from the Bookmakers? Does he still filibuster his way through bills designed to protect women from domestic violence?

If you want to know what nasty is all about, Philip Davies is your man.

But seriously, don’t call them scum.

How about the Tory MP for North Devon, Selaine Saxby, who wrote

“I am delighted our local businesses have bounced back so much after lockdown they are able to give away food for free, and very much hope they will not be seeking any further government support.”

What kind of nastiness is this? She actually posted that on her Facebook page, but has since deleted it after realising it’s not the best example of ‘compassionate conservatism.’ I don’t think she had realised that the internet doesn’t forget.

And then we have Tory MP Brendan Clarke-Smith openly attacking the free school meal motion, saying:

“I do not believe in nationalising children. We need to get back to the idea of taking responsibility. This means less celebrity virtue signalling on Twitter by proxy"

“Nationalising children”? What an utter turd.

The ghastliness of this government is hard to put into words. The damage they have caused during 2020 can never be repaired. You can’t blame them for the arrival of a deadly virus, but you can sure as hell blame them for their catastrophic handling, their ongoing corruption, and their plain and simple negligence.

You can blame them for the heartbreaking death toll. Had they locked down just 7-10 days sooner, many lives could have been saved. They didn’t need to die. But Dido, Cheltenham, you know the story by now.

You can blame them for spending billions and billions on a test and trace system that we were supposed to have up and running before our children were sent back to school and you back to work. That hasn’t happened, and now we face the tragic consequences of their private sector fetish.

But for fuck sake, just don’t call them “scum”, because that’s nasty.

The nastiest government I have ever lived under, and their band of nasty MPs, are telling their bosses not to be nasty to them? Am I getting this right? Of course you shouldn’t be abusive to these ridiculous individuals. Many of the sickos thrive off of your emotional anger. I get it, I really do. But there is a line.

Red or blue, if you are fighting for the interests of the few, while throwing the many under your big red bullshit bus, then you simply have to be expecting to be held to account. We live and die by your decision making. Expect us to want to have a say in the wellbeing of our loved ones.

The last week has been thoroughly unsightly. We have schools, businesses, charities, food banks and community groups all clubbing together, and quite magnificently looking after the children that have been disregarded by the Conservative government of 2020.

Some 51 Councils have defied the government and signed up to Marcus Rashford’s scheme to help feed hungry children, and that includes Conservative councils.

But sadly, this is what the government wants. Socialism exists in Britain, but it is corporate socialism. The fact someone else is picking up the pieces of their abandonment is the stuff of wet dreams for nasty individuals such as Gove, Patel, Raab, and the great matted Bullingdon scarecrow himself.

They get to wash their hands of any responsibility. They genuinely believe most poor children are poor because of their parents bad life choices, and nothing to do with low wages, cuts to welfare, rising prices, and a decade of ideological austerity.

They are the nasty party. And they will continue to go on being the nasty party, because it is in their DNA. Their self-entitlement is endless. They want us hating on each other in the same way that they hate on us. Divide and rule, it’s how they roll.

“Don’t be nasty”, say the nastiest government in living memory.

Enjoy your day folks.

  2. Lovely blog, nice to get more extensive comments and analysis than in the usual ephemeral Twitterverse. Especially about "foul filmy coverings" of various persuasions. Interestingly, Google claims "scum" is not a bad word but "scumbag" is. Who knew? https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=scum+definition
