Cummings Out, Pidcock In - 2020 Seeks Redemption

That has been a tumultuous week, even by 2020 standards. This is my take on some of the events of the past week.

Heroes Lives Matter:

Coronavirus is running rampant, once again. We saw record numbers of positive infections on Wednesday, and the current tragic death toll is similar to a Boeing 747 full of holidaymakers falling out of the sky, every day. 

Today alone saw 26,860 new positive infections, and another 462 deaths.

Every single day brings further devastation and loss for hundreds of families. How many lives would have been saved, Boris Johnson? 

A friend of mine is a carer for adults with special needs. Their staff numbers are depleted by Covid-19, and their residents, with other underlying health issues, are catching the deadly virus. What she has described to me sounds like an actual warzone, and I fear for her wellbeing. 

Her commitment to the people she cares for is humbling and inspiring. She doesn’t demand or receive a hefty pay packet - she does it because she wants to make a difference. 

She is not alone, of course. The care sector is packed full of incredibly compassionate humans. 

It is socialism in action. 

Pidcock Victorious:

Talking of socialism… The Labour Party have just announced the results of their NEC elections - these are the people that sit at the top table, and hold huge sway over the direction of policy. 

The result was due to be announced on Friday morning, but a last minute plan from Labour HQ delayed the results until the evening. 

Reports suggest some 6,000 votes from the left of the Party, had been pulled out during the day. Come teatime, one of the most unpopular figures in the Labour Party, a pro-apartheid, anti-Palestinian, Saudi sympathiser, had topped the poll. 

Like it was ever in any doubt. 

On the plus side, the Grassroots Voice slate managed to return five out of their six candidates, including the formidable Laura Pidcock. The left have added five strong CLP allies on the NEC, which is now under the control of the Labour right. 

Keir Stalin:

The Labour Party isn’t a pretty place to be right now. Constituency Labour Party’s (CLP’s) are being gagged. They mustn’t issue motions of support for Jeremy Corbyn - under the instruction of Blairite General Secretary, David Evans. Suspensions have been issued to the brave dissenters that wish to show some form of solidarity with the man that has spent 55 years standing by them. 

This will not end well for the Labour right.

Labour has some huge problems ahead. Starmer has forced himself into an unenviable position. 

If Jeremy Corbyn is expelled from the Labour Party, the gates of hell will open. Starmer knows this. We know this. The Labour Party will be unrecognisable.. 

If Jeremy Corbyn is readmitted to the Labour Party, as he rightfully should be, the Labour right will kick off, and Starmer will be under immense pressure. He will be accused of weakness, dishonesty, and not having the courage to stand up to the left. 

You made your bed Keith, good luck with that one. 

Dominic Goings:

And while we are talking about good luck, I want to take this opportunity to wish Dominic Cummings good luck with his new job at Specsavers. 

There’s lots of different versions of events in the mainstream media. Most of them serve as a perfect distraction from the mess that Chairman Dom and PM Johnson have dragged us in to. 

It’s a fucking circus. The Number 10 Big Tent is packed full of grotesquely inadequate media spinners that would find themselves vastly over-promoted as a paperclip auditor. 

While the clowns battle for their own piece of power, the audience, who have very little choice in their attendance, couldn’t give a flying fuck about “Princess Nut Nuts” Symonds and they give even less of a fuck about an ex-S*n reporter-not-journalist that used to dress up as a chicken, following David Cameron around the country. 

The SPADS live in their own little world. It’s just a shame they can’t stay in their own little world. We are simply collateral damage to these ghouls. 

Be in no doubt, Cummings will return, but only when it benefits Dominic Cummings. His work here is done, for now. 

The Cult of Trump:

Someone else who can say their work is well and truly done is Donald Trump. His refusal to graciously concede to President-elect Biden comes as no shock to any of us. 

Grand peddlers of bullshit, Fox News, are getting back into Trumpian mode, running a promotion of their ‘opinion’ host, casting further doubt on the election results. 

Trump’s own supporters gathered in Washington this morning, protesting against what they and their grand wizard Trump insist is massive voter fraud. 

A small group of reporters known as the "White House press pool" supplied this report: 

POTUS emerged from the south portico at 10am wearing a red hat, blue jacket and blue trousers. He appeared to be holding a newspaper. He got inside the presidential limousine and the motorcade headed out to Pennsylvania Avenue.

It was greeted by applause, cheers, waving and whistles from hundreds of Trump supporters lining both sides of the street. They punched the air, took pictures with phones and held signs that included ‘Best prez ever’ and ‘Stop the steal’.

The crowd also waved flags including ‘Trump 2020: Keep America great’, ‘Trump 2020: No more bullshit’, ‘All aboard the Trump train!’, ‘Women for Trump’ and ‘Trump 2020: Pro life, pro God, pro gun’.

The motorcade passed the Willard Hotel and did a circuit of Freedom Plaza, where people had climbed on walls and other structures for a better view. Some ran excitedly after the motorcade. There were chants of “USA! USA!”, “We want Trump! We want Trump!” and “Four more years! Four more years!”

Many people wore red, white and blue flag patterns. One man had on a t-shirt that said: “I’m deplorable.” A stand had been set up to sell merchandise as if at a Trump rally. US park police were present. It was not possible to see how POTUS responded to the crowd. The motorcade is rolling on through Virginia”

And they accused the ‘Corbynistas’ of being a cult? Jesus chuffing Christ.

Tens of millions of devout Trumpians hang off the giant Wotsits every tweet. I don’t think they will be going away quietly. They genuinely believe their dear leader was robbed, when in fact he just didn’t get as many votes as the other guy. 

You lost. Get over it. 

No Holding Back:

Finally, this week we saw the launch of a report into Labour’s 2019 election defeat by ‘No Holding Back.’ ‘NHB’ was formed by 2 current Labour MPs, Ian Lavery and Jon Trickett, and former Labour MP, Cllr Laura Smith. 

The report took in views from Labour members, ex-members and Labour voters, up and down the land, and one of the conclusions as to why Labour lost the ‘red wall’ pointed to Labour’s confusing Brexit position, and the shift to backing a second referendum. 

Jeremy Corbyn and Karie Murphy fought against the change, because they knew what colossal damage it was cause, but Starmer didn’t care, for he was bright enough to realise that forcing Labour into backing a ‘People’s Vote’ would inevitably lead to the departure of Jeremy Corbyn. 

The report has called on Sir Keir Starmer to apologise for his leading role in the 2019 disaster, and it has made some excellent recommendations to the leadership to adopt, including Labour push for a “Cronyism Watchdog”.
