The Silencing Of The Left Is Unjust And Utterly Immoral

This is an odd one to write.

I’m staring at a blank screen, scratching my head, wondering to myself what’s safe to say and what isn’t safe to say.

It’s not supposed to be like this, surely?

It would be easy to play on safe ground, rant about Keir Starmer’s abomination of a leadership (don’t worry regular readers, we’ll get on to him in a bit). It would be easy to talk about Boris Johnson and his shambolic hard-right government, because they will be remembered as the government of the year 2020, the worst government in living memory, by a comfortable distance.

But the easiest option isn’t always the right option

The British left is under attack. Freedom of speech is under attack. You see, we got way too close to power in 2017. We could’ve been in the third year of a socialist government.

While that may well send a shiver down the spine of the centrist and right-wing warmongers, asset-strippers, and faux patriots, I tell you now, it couldn’t have been any worse than where we are now with the Tories.

Once the initial shock wore off, the establishment got their shit together to make sure it wasn’t ever going to get that close again.

Smears, lies, briefings, internal sabotage, back room deals, and I’ll mention the word “smears” again, because it was prolific - they threw everything at us.

Initially it was about discrediting the ‘key players’ - John McDonnell was to be cast as Corbyn’s co-defendant, the long time friend. The Maoist who would bankrupt Britain. Have you seen our economy?

Diane Abbot was to be portrayed as the ‘clueless’ one, and was a target for disgusting racism from within her own party, the media generated nastiness was and still is utterly repugnant. Leave the woman alone.

It won’t grow any bigger because you managed to make an offensive meme featuring Diane, honestly, it won’t, not even if you get 20 likes on it.

Others targeted were Richard Burgon, Ian Lavery, Rebecca Long-Bailey, Laura Pidcock and pretty much anyone displaying an ounce of compassion for humanity, which is why Keith and co didn’t really get targeted - they were never a threat to the ruling class - they are part of the threat to us.

All of the attacks and abuse following the 2017 election were designed to destabilise the left, who were in their strongest position for decades, and essentially, destroy Jeremy Corbyn and any chance of a decent socialist government.

The perpetrators got their way. More than two years of the most disgraceful media campaign, supported by a vast majority of the Parliamentary Labour Party, armed with their smears and lies, did exactly what it was supposed to do, nearly one year ago.

So we lost. It hurt. It still does really, because I watch five minutes of news at any given time and know it quite simply didn’t need to be this way.

But it’s not enough for them, is it?

At the time of writing, left-wing Twitter Accounts have been dropping like flies for some of the most absurd tweets imaginable. Some are facing 12 hour bans for things like tweeting their own email address, yes, their own.

I got a 12 hour ban for sharing the phone number and email address of a national radio station, who had a call-in lined up with Matt Hancock. These details are in the public domain, obviously.

But others are currently facing permanent bans, again, for tweets that were neither offensive, targeted at individuals or contained any private information.

We’ve lost good friends. Red Sarah, Silly Skulker, and Grombags (Ms G Richards), Red Flag, to name but a few.

They have done nothing wrong.

Others who have faced shorter but still entirely unnecessary suspensions include Ben Jolly, Cornish Damo, Canary Editor, Kerry-Anne Mendoza, Wrenasaurus, Resist Movement, and Andrew Feinstein.

If you look at all of the names I’ve just mentioned, you’ll find they have several things in common. They are all prominent left voices on Social Media, they have all continued to support Mr Corbyn, and socialism, and they have all had the audacity to stand up for the oppressed people of occupied Palestine.

Somebody needs to say it.

This is a witch hunt.

It makes sense. If you take out the vocal supporters, the ones with a platform they could only dream of, it will destabilise the entire movement. They’ve yet to realise that the British left has a vast number of vocal supporters.

Honestly, it really hurts seeing my friends going through this unjustified madness. Red Sarah, for example, she’s a friend, we’ve fought so many battles together, and she is a brilliant, caring person, the kind of person that would give you her last penny, or a sofa to sleep in if you had nowhere else to go.

Sarah was permanently suspended for tweeting a link to the Top Ten hit, ‘Letter to Corbyn’, by Craft-D. Now here’s the thing, the artist has gone as far as tweeting his full permission for Sarah to share *his* work. But the orchestrated witch-hunt have reported it, in numbers, as a copyright offence, and the algorithm bot things close the account.

So why is the pro-Corbyn, pro-human rights, anti-capitalism @RedSarah99 still suspended? She hasn’t done anything wrong. Her suspension is entirely unjustified.

*It would seem Twitter have once again suspended Ben Jolly’s account - 10pm Saturday*

It seems like the Labour Party and Twitter UK are having a purge-the-leftie competition at the moment.

Although to be fair to Twitter, they didn’t tell the world they was going to put an end to antisemitism in the Labour Party by suspending Jewish left-wing socialists and some of the best anti-racism campaigners you’ll ever come across - the most recent example being Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi.

The Labour Party, or should I say *this* Labour Party, has absolutely no right to call itself an anti-racist Party while BAME members are leaving the party in their droves.

This Labour Party has no right to call itself an anti-racist Party if the leadership can’t even muster up an apology to the Labour Muslim Network following their damning report into Islamophobia in the Labour Party.

And this Labour Party has no right to call itself an anti-racist Party while they are purging Jewish left-wing socialists for speaking truth to power.

Seriously Keith, it’s an absolutely hideous spectacle that you might well expect from UKIP, but the Labour Party? Good god no.

Labour is a cesspit. Change is inevitable, because they can’t go on like this.

Take care folks, keep an eye out for each other, and demanding Labour and Twitter #ReinstateTheLeft

As an Englishman who has lived in Ireland for 46 years, I have always supported the Labour party, in spirit, except during that abhorrent period under Tony Blair when he trounced the essential beliefs of the party. I see Starmer doing the same and worse and I weep for the injustices he is prosecuting on the core of the party. He will, in time, be held in the same disdain as Blair is; as an instrument of the far right who has tried to remove all those in the party with any socialist values.
I'll leave it at that as I am rather upset!
Good luck to all who are trying to keep the labour party true to its values.
