Labour In Name Only: They’re Finished - But You’re Not

The Labour Party conference has finished, and coincidentally, the Labour Party is finished.

So, what’s next?

Let’s be honest, if the media sold you a Jeremy Corbyn speech in the same way they just attempted to sell you that focus group fuckwittedry from the diabolical establishment douche bag Starmer, we’d have a socialist government by now.

See, this media - the least trusted media in Europe - gave you Boris Johnson, as did 80% of the Parliamentary Labour Party.

They knew Johnson was and is an incompetent dangerous liability, and by god has that proven to be the case.

They knew Johnson was and is a lifelong racist bastard that looks down on ethnic minorities as inferior to himself and his elitist friends.

They knew Johnson was and is a cheat, a philanderer and a posh boy thug that tried to arrange a beating for a journalist.

They knew Johnson was and is a compulsive liar. How are those 40 new hospitals doing? No hikes in National Insurance?

But none of this mattered, because free broadband, free school meals, a real plan for social care, a foreign policy that advocates peace before bombs, a National Education Service, and the people having a meaningful stake in society was just too much for their precious little privileged heads to absorb.

By the way, did you know that Keir Starmer’s dad was a toolmaker?

When the media covered Jeremy’s ancestry they pointed out that his great great grandfather was the master of a workhouse described as “a scandal and a curse to a country which calls itself civilised and Christian”.

I’m not making it up, that really happened, under the headline… wait for it….

REVEALED - The evil monster haunting Jeremy Corbyn’s past.”

Remember, Starmer - toolmaker, Corbyn - evil monster.

Let’s go further with being honest.

The entire Labour Party conference was almost an absolute shambolic failure. From inviting the S*n into the conference to witnessing armed police officers wandering around in case some overly-enthusiastic pensioner breaks into a chorus of “oh Jeremy Corbyn”.

And let’s not forget “Labour Friends of the Police”. For me, this was particularly hideous from the former Owen Smith supporting MP, Jessica Morden.

I say the conference was “almost” an absolute shambolic failure because one or two good things did happen, such as the passing of a motion calling the apartheid state of Israel, “apartheid”, and the spectacular fringe event held by TWT, but beyond that, this was a conference for optics.

Starmer wanted the world to know he was flushing out the left-wing of the Labour Party. The media knew the lines that needed pushing, and push them they did.

This was his attempt to draw a clear line between the popular platform put forward by Jeremy Corbyn for the last few years, and new New Labour - a kind of Cameron/Miliband hybrid - that is currently polling worse than the “biggest disaster in Labour Party history” - in other words, if we had a General Election tomorrow, based on that polling, Keir Starmer would lead the Labour Party into an even bigger “disaster” than Corbyn’s 32.1% of the vote in 2019.

We can see it coming, 3 years out.

Starmer’s own supporters know it too. This is why they keep popping up, calling you a “Tory plant”, or something ridiculous about being responsible for another ten years of the Tories.

You see, you don’t get to pull that one with us, you fucking hypocrites. You will own your defeats, they’re not our problem. When we came to you asking to support our twice-elected leader you called us antisemites and a national security risk.

You are an enemy of aspiration and an obstacle to hope. Starmer chooses to cling on to the rotting carcass of capitalism. If you’re comfortable supporting Starmer, why the hell are you even reading this?

You don’t get to tell us to support Keir Starmer without being told to get fucking real.

I know some of my friends are staying in the Labour Party, not many, and I have nothing but respect for them, and their eternal optimism.

But what about the thousands and thousands of you that have witnessed Starmer go from a ‘soft Corbynite’ agenda, to secure the Labour membership vote, to where he is now?

When the Labour Party isn’t a home for democratic socialists it ceases to exist. It’s a busted flush. Finished. Brown Bread.

While socialism has been around since the day dot, it found a whole new life in 2015 under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn.

Jeremy inspired a whole new movement. Young people got involved in politics in huge numbers for the first time in as long as I can remember. Labour could mobilise thousands of activists at the drop of a hat.

This demands a new movement, and I truly believe that time will come, sooner rather than later.

You may want to point me to new set-ups, such as Breakthrough, for example, but I’m only interested in a movement for the people, from every walk of life, regardless of faith, race, sexuality, and social ranking.

You could also point me towards The Resist Movement - and that is a fair shout. Their website introduction says…

Changing the political status quo won’t be easy. Better to start today than leave it to another generation.”

They’ve got the right idea.

I’m interested in a movement that will stand up for our socialist values, a movement that will represent the ordinary left. This movement will oppose Conservatism in all of its forms, and it will grow and grow, as more people begin to realise the answer to our problems isn’t more of the same. We cannot go on like this.

We must not go on like this.

Something is coming. I’m convinced of it, and I know others are too.

I truly believe we need that hope again. Do you remember it? While it may not bring everyone together, hope can give us a common purpose.

We need the ‘big beasts’ of the left to start talking. It’s not for me to name names because you know the people I’m talking about, and you need to tell them, because we need their experience, we need their credibility, and we need their leadership.

A new movement must be unapologetic, and hold no fear of challenging the unacceptable present, and if it is to have an impact it must belong to those who join the movement and not those who lead it.

Following the big speech, one Starmer-supporting politician - Baroness Jenny Chapman of Darlington - took to Twitter to tell us all that working people had just got their party back. Let’s be straight, Jen.

The Labour Party stopped belonging to working people some time ago now. Corbyn tried to give the party back to working people, but the Labour Party machinery wouldn’t allow it - they threw 2 elections to make sure of it.

Keir Starmer has spent the last 18 months utterly savaging the soul of the Labour Party. What took 121 years to build has been dismantled in the blink of an eye.

Keir Starmer has confirmed he has no problem breaking his promises if it means getting into power. This isn’t compatible with a political party that has respect, integrity and principles.

Keir Starmer conned you.

Of course, we must adjust to changing times, undoubtedly, but we still have to hold on to unchanging principles, and that can no longer be done in a Labour Party hellbent on attacking its own party members while giving a free pass to the very worst government in living memory.

The Labour Party is no home for socialists, this is abundantly clear and obvious to most of us. The big question now is simple enough, and it’s a question that needs answering urgently.

What comes next?

Will you sit around and hope for change, or will you be that change?

They always say time changes things, but when it comes down to it, you actually have to change them yourself.

Until next time,
